WC5C Tri-County Amateur Radio Club and KE5BSA will offer the Radio Merit Badge again this summer on June 24 8:30AM to Noon at the Azle Fire Station (900 Lakeview Dr, Azle, TX 76020) as part of ARRL Field Day. Field Day is a national Emergency Preparedness Exercise, where amateur radio operators along with the agencies they serve test the ability to field deploy radio communications equipment and attempt to exchange simple information with as many other locations as possible (and as such counts toward the requirement for the Emergency Preparedness Merit Badge).
All the requirements for the Radio Merit Badge will be completed in this single session from 8:30-noon. At 1PM, we will have a radio available to the general public to use (GOTA Station), so Scouts seeking the Emergency Preparedness MB requirement 7A should come anytime after 1PM (with approval from their MB Councilor for EP).
